Various companies and organizations have created toolkits to help start a worksite wellness program. Below are some of these toolkits that can help your company in its quest to a healthier workforce.
- Steps to Wellness: A Guide to Implementing the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans in the Workplace provides employers interested in establishing or expanding their wellness programs with easy and understandable steps on how to increase the physical activity of employees in the workplace.
- The Utah Department of Health through the Bureau of Health Promotion has created a worksite wellness toolkit entitled, "Building a Healthy Worksite A Guide to Lower Health Care Costs and More Productive Employees."
- The Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Lean Works! – A Workplace Obesity Prevention Program offers its own toolkit and a list of toolkits and resources used by various states.
- The CDC also has a Workplace Health Model that provides steps and all necessary tools and resources to start and implement an effective worksite wellness program.
- The CDC through the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has created a document entitled, "Essential Elements of Effective Workplace Programs and Policies for Improving Worker Health and Wellbeing," that outlines how to implement a worksite wellness program.
