Youth (ages 6-17)
This fact sheet reviews the benefits of youth physical activity, provides statistics on youth participation in physical activity, and offers suggestions for how families can support physical activity.
Active Children and Adolescents: The Physical Activity Guidelines in Action (7:46)
This video provides "real life" examples of the HHS 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. It provides an overview of the scientific guidelines; shows youth of various ages engaging in a range of moderate- and vigorous-intensity aerobic activities, muscle-strengthening activities, and bone-strengthening activities; and emphasizes the importance of school, community and family involvement in youth physical activity.
Adults (ages 18-64)
Be Active Your Way: A Fact Sheet for Adults [PDF Version - 427 KB] summarizes the basic information in the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and provides examples of physical activity to help you get started. The more you do, the greater the health benefits and the better you'll feel.

Older Adults (ages 65+)
Go4Life, an exercise and physical activity campaign from the National Institute on Aging, is designed to help you fit exercise and physical activity into your daily life. Motivating you to become physically active for the first time, return to exercise after a break in a routines, or build more exercise and physical activity into weekly routines are the essential elements of Go4Life. Go4Life offers exercises, motivational tips, and free resources to help you get ready, start exercising, and keep going.
