Ophthlmic Conjunctivitis

The incubation period for viral conjunctivitis varies from 12 hours to 12 days. Bacterial conjunctivitis is one to three days. Signs and symptoms include redness of eye(s), watery, white or yellow discharge from eye(s), matted eyelashes, or burning/itching eyes. Conjunctivitis is transmitted by contact with discharge from eyes or upper respiratory tract of an infected person. Eyes can become infected through contaminated hands, clothes, or shared makeup. Conjunctivitis can be spread throughout the course of an active infection. Keep children at home with conjunctivitis until examined by a physician and approved for readmission.
