Dental Screenings

Dental screenings must be completed by a qualified dentist or dental hygienist. The school nurse will need to find a local dentist to conduct the screenings. The Smile Factory is a preventive program for students at high risk for caries. This program was developed by the Utah Department of Health and is implemented in selected elementary schools throughout Utah. The Smile Factory consists of screening and identification, education, fluoride distribution, and evaluation. Dental health education is also important and can be done in February which is Dental Health month.
